About the session

Managing Product Portfolio as Regulations Change: Practical Lessons from the U.S., Mexico and Indonesia

Regulatory changes are a key part of product management. Successful organizations adapt proactive strategies to turn these into competitive advantage.

Regulatory changes can quickly affect product portfolio decisions. While operations want simplicity the product manager faces the dilemma of managing the regulatory environment requirements which may vary between countries.

The lubricant industry is a traditional sector yet regulations like Mexico NOM 116, Indonesia source plant audits or future impacts of non usage of a particular substance like PFAS in the USA, impacts the product portfolio.

Industry examples of situations, strategy and actions plans to manage product portfolios in fast changing regulatory environments.

What you will take away

  • Treat regulatory change as a product-portfolio input rather than an external constraint handled later.
  • Plan for different regulatory requirements across countries instead of assuming one global portfolio can stay static.
  • Use proactive portfolio strategies to respond to changes in markets including the U.S., Mexico, and Indonesia.
